Wedding Photography at King Street Town House, Bolton & Manchester
All weddings are special and it’s the job of the professional wedding photographer to make sure they capture those brilliant and intimate details that tell the story of the day.
It was a huge honour to be asked to put together a portfolio of Laura and Steve’s wedding day, creating images that the happy couple will be able keep and treasure for many years as they grow old together.
Laura and Steve were getting married in Greater Manchester. The King Street Town House is an ideal location and popular with many couples who live in the area. With more than a hint of Italian renaissance, it has beautiful balconies overlooking the city and is right next to some great local landmarks.
First off, I was taken to Bolton where Laura was getting prepared at her parents home. This is a great time to take candid images as people get ready for the big day and can often produce memorable and heart warming photos. I generally use a wide angle lens as you can fit a lot more into the frame. I’ll also swap to a telephoto if I think the situation needs it, for example when I want a close up detail of the bride having her makeup done.
The Wedding Ceremony and Celebrations
While there are some standard shots in any wedding celebration – the walk down the aisle, the family and friends gathered together and the speeches and first dance – as a photographer I also like to use the surrounding spaces to create even more memorable compositions.
Once the couple were married, they were happy to walk around with me and find some interesting backdrops for their posed photos. Capturing the joy and excitement of the day is also about being outgoing as a photographer. You have to spot the great shots and be brave enough to approach people and take the picture, while still remaining polite.
